Since Ryan came off the air earlier this summer rumours had been swirling about who could possibly replace him.
Now it looks like we have two frontrunners to step into the hot seat.
And they make complete sense!
Brendan Courtney and Oliver Callan are the frontrunners to take over, according to odds from Ladbrokes.
Both men had stepped in to fill in for Ryan over the last few weeks and they have been a hit with listeners!
It is Evens for Oliver to step in while Brendan is at 6/4.
Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: “Since RTE announced that Ryan Tubridy won’t be returning to the airwaves, we have been inundated with bets on a potential replacement for the veteran broadcaster. As things stand, it looks like it could be a two-horse race between Oliver Callan and Brendan Courtney for the morning radio hot-seat!”
Brendan spoke about the decision that sees Ryan not returning to the airwaves during the show on Friday morning.
“I’m not going to lie, I’m sitting here behind this mic, and after all that’s gone on, it is a little strange this morning being here,” he stated.
“But, we take a collective big deep breath together, and we do this show.”
Of course, there are several other prominent names in the mix to take over for Ryan.
Anton Savage, who lends his voice to Newstalk each weekend, is at 3/1, while Miriam O’Callaghan and Sarah McInerney are at 4/1 and 5/1 respectively.
The rest of the odds are 8/1 Kathryn Thomas, 8/1 Brendan O’Connor, 20/1 Muireann O’Connell, 33/1 Colette Fitzpatrick, 33/1 Angela Scanlon.
