When is Brian & Arthur’s Very Modern Family on TV?

Brian Dowling and Arthur Gourounlian welcomed their first child via surrogate last year.

The couple has been very open about their journey to parenthood, speaking about the struggles they faced on the road to welcome baby Blake.

They chose to make a documentary focusing on surrogacy and becoming parents through a non-traditional route.

Speaking to VIP Magazine after the birth of Blake, Arthur told us: “We’ve said before that surrogacy affects all families, not just gay couples, and that’s why we wanted to make our documentary, and put our lives out there.

“We wanted to show people that you can do it, and also try and make some change for other people going forward.”

And worry not as you won’t have long to wait to watch the documentary.

Brian & Arthur’s Very Modern Family will air on RTÉ One tonight at 9:35pm.

During the course of the documentary they will discuss how they began their journey to surrogacy as well as losing embryos along the way.

“We lost twins before they were implanted, they had chromosomal disorders. The clinic that we went to only work with viable healthy embryos,” Brian explains in the documentary.

Brian and Arthur appeared on The Late Late Show alongside Brian’s sister Aoife who acted as a surrogate for them. The trio were highly praised for their emotional interview.

Following their heartfelt interview, Brian took to social media to thank Aoife for appearing with them on the show.

Recognising how intimidating it can be for someone outside of the showbiz world to appear on TV, Brian began: “So much pressure on [Aoife] last night. Appearing on LIVE television is not easy let alone doing it on [The Late Late Show].”

“All we can say Aoife is WOW WOW WOW you were ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. So relaxed & articulate & obviously looking [fire]. Thank you so much [Ryan Tubridy] for giving us the opportunity to come on & chat about our surrogacy journey the highs, the lows & of course also our fabulous new documentary.”

But even for Brian and Arthur, who are both plenty used to fame, there was still some nerves around their appearance on the show.

“Also no matter how many times I’m lucky enough to be a guest on The Late Late I will always be nervous. This show is an Irish institution, getting to guest on it is a real pinch me moment. Last night we brought the GLAMOUR but honestly, the McDonald’s afterward was giving us LIFE. To all of you who sent kind encouraging messages thanks so so much ALWAYS ALWAYS APPRECIATED,” Brian confessed.

Brian & Arthur’s Very Modern Family airs Monday 13th March at 9:35pm on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player.
