Could Moone Boy be hitting the big screens? According to star Deirdre O’Kane, it’s a real possibility that it’s going to happen soon.
The actress says that she thinks a film version of our favourite funnyman Chris O’Dowd’s Sky One comedy is the only option going forward.
“I think Moone Boy the movie is what will happen. I don’t think there’ll be any more telly,” Deirdre commented.
“The boys [writers Chris O’Dowd and Nick Vincent Murphy] signed up for a three-book deal and they’ve got two of them out.”
She continued: “So I suspect they writing to get the third one out, and when that’s done I think they’ll get down to the screenplay.”
The Irish stand-up comic was chatting to Brendan O’Connor on RTE Radio One about the hit show, and she also discussed returning to her native country after living in London for 10 years.
Admitting she’s happy to be home, she said: “It really is great. I mean my feet have only just touched the ground but I feel like I’ve never left.
“It’s very easy to come this way, because obviously I’d had 15 to 18 years in Dublin before that, and I feel like I know where I’m going. I feel very comfortable and at home.”
Glad to have you back, Deirdre!
