Virgin Media’s ‘Generation Dating’ melted viewers’ hearts last night

Generation Dating — COCO Content

Virgin Media’s new dating show Generation Dating premiered last night, and viewers couldn’t get enough.

The show has a new take on dating as it takes singletons in their twenties and matches them up with the over 65’s to help one and other find love. It combines the classic world of Irish courting with a newer one full of swiping, ghosting, and catfishing to help people find love.

Or try, at least.

But even better is the focus on friendship, as two different generations find things in common and work together.

Last night’s episode followed 81-year-old widower Tony from Dublin and 22-year-old social housing officer Isabel from Cork. The pair set out to find each other love and their search was absolutely hilarious.

Their hunt saw pub visits, neighbourhood scouring, a boob pottery class and even some divine intervention. What can we say? Love is hard to find these days! Hands down, the cutest part of the program was watching Isabel, and Tony get to know each other and become friends.

Audiences couldn’t get enough and took to Twitter to share their love of the new show.

Next weeks episode is set to be just as adorable. It will follow feisty sisters, 78-year-old Ellen Byas, who was widowed after 50 years of marriage and her little sister 68-year-old Úna, who has been divorced for 24 years.

The sisters will be paired up with Claire ‘Cloud’ Downe, a 25-year-old hospital administrator and Bingo Loco crew member. Their adventure finding love is just as mad as Tony and Isabel’s and will see flirtatious pub visits, ukulele groups, dance lessons, Ireland’s oldest boyband, barbershops, and even some parkour.

Ellen, Úna, and Cloud’s adventures in dating can be seen next Wednesday at 9pm on Virgin Media One.
