Una Healy has opened up about getting over her divorce from Ben Foden. In a recent interview on RTÉ’s Today show she spoke about the process.

Specifically, Una shared that she frequently receives messages on social media from others looking for advice; “I do have a quite a few people reaching out saying they’re going through the same situation and it’s so common these days unfortunately.”

Una and rugby star, Ben Foden split back in 2018 after six years of marriage.

“You walk down the aisle and say, ‘I do’, and hope it’s forever and that is the intention but some things aren’t meant to be forever and that’s just the way it is.”

“I always look at it that I have my two beautiful children so it was meant to be but it just wasn’t meant to be forever,” Una added.

The Saturday’s star went on to say that; “There is a lot of pain involved in the shock of your new life and having to adapt to it but just always remember that you’re better off without the person that wasn’t meant for you.”

“Just know that you aren’t alone there’s so many other people in the same situation it is unfortunately quite common. Think as positive as much as you can and get busy.”

“Just think of you and love yourself and do everything for you and your family, if they have kids or not, just be kind to yourself.”

Recently Ben also opened up about his split from Una, sharing that he married his new wife on the day that his divorce was finalised from Una Healy.

Speaking on Instagram live to TV presenter, Sharon Carpenter the rugby star revealed that his decision to do this was “wrong.”

Just one year after his split from Una, Ben married Jackie Belanoff Smith after a whirlwind romance. The pair had only met and been dating for two weeks before they said ‘I Do.’

“I hold my hands up and say, it was wrong. My final decree didn’t even come through until the morning of us getting married.”

“People will say I wasn’t very respectful in what I did, getting married to Jackie very quickly, but you can’t help the heart and we’ve got past it.”

“When I met Jackie, she was like no one I’ve ever met before in so many departments. She’s very independent, very free-spirited.”

Ben and Una have two children together, Aoife Belle and Tadgh, Ben has since welcomed a baby girl Farah with Jackie in May of this year.

Ben shared that he hadn’t really planned on having anymore children; “She was at a point where she was like, ‘I want to meet someone and get married and have kids’. Even though in my head I was like, ‘Oh I don’t really want to do that’ I knew she’d make such a good mum.”

“I knew she’d be really kind and respectful to my other kids from my other marriage.”
