Twink has sensationally revealed that she was fired from her role as “panto queen” last year.
The star, real name Adele King, was on The Seven O’Clock Show last night and said she was “unceremoniously let go” from the position in Limerick.
At the time Twink told the Herald that she gave up the job as she didn’t like “under rehearsing”, while the panto claimed that it was due to “artistic differences”.
“I want to know in February what’s going on when it goes to March and then April it’s worrying ” Twink revealed at the time, “When it’s September, October my pot is boiling and there ain’t no lid and I can’t keep the lid on anyway.”
“This is my job and the problem is that it is my name over that title and since I was a child, I have never short changed the patrons for my contribution to the show. If I don’t feel my contribution would be excellent enough in that time frame I’m outta here,” she added at the time.
The panto queen was swiftly replaced by Keith Duffy , while Twink said she “was flooded with offers” for other pantos, adding that she would only return to the stage “on my terms and my time”.
Last night, however, the 64-year-old admitted on the TV3 show that she was “unceremoniously let go” from her “lifetime job of being a panto queen” by the production.
Twink has has now focused her attention on baking cakes – the stage veteran spends her weekends selling her cakes at a local farmer’s market.
“I’ve always loved doing my cakes, it’s very cathartic. It’s a huge labour of love,” she told the Irish Sun.
