Tommy Tiernan has admitted he worries about the effect his split from partner of 15 years, Jayne Street had on their children.
The comedian was in a relationship with Jayne for 15 years but the pair called it quits after she became suspicious that Tommy was having an affair with his current wife, Yvonne McMahon.
The former partners had three children together; Dylan, 24, Jacob, 18, and Eva,16, and the Donegal native has said the split is still an going issue in their lives, and worries about the effect it had on them.
“It’s an on going thing (the split) I felt… we’re all fallible.” he told the Irish Independent.
“But at each moment in our life we do what we think is the best thing and we deal with the consequences of that. I’m still processing my own childhood. For my children (the family situation) is an ongoing reality in their lives.”
The 47-year-old went on to say that he acknowledges the mothers of his children will always be in charge and admits that the occurrences of family life are often beyond control.
“I’m not at the head, the mothers are at the head. I’m more like a mischievous lieutenant, whom people don’t really trust or listen to.” he said.
“Family life just happens in front of you and you can’t control it.”
