While they didn’t go into details, they confirmed that he had been in hospital.
Now Glen Power has opened up about the tragic passing admitting that the news was a “shock”.
Glen, who is the band’s drummer, told The Sunday World: “It’s such a devastating loss for us, his family and everyone close.
“We had a connection that’s very rare. We spent more time together than any couple. We are in shock, there are no words.”
The band shared the sad news on social media with a picture of Mark.
“Much loved husband, father, brother, band mate and friend Mark Sheehan passed away today in hospital after a brief illness. The family and group ask fans to respect their privacy at this tragic time,” they wrote.
Tributes immediately poured in for Mark.

“Shocked and saddened. Mark was always so lovely and encouraging to us. Our thoughts are with all the Script family. RIP,” Danny O’Reilly commented.
Others left broken heart emojis in the comment section of the devastating post.
The Script formed back in 2001 – consisting of Mark, Danny and drummer Glen Power.
They released their debut album, titled The Script, in 2008.
