We want to applaud the women of RTE radio! The latest JNLR figures were released yesterday and they show huge increases for the ladies of our national broadcaster. You go girls!
On Radio One, our very own cover girl Miriam O’Callaghan saw a massive increase of 21,000 listeners for her show. The Claire Byrne show saw an increase of 10,000, while Marian Finucane’s weekend show has increased by 7000 on Saturdays and 2000 on Sundays.
2FM’s stats aren’t something to be ignored either with shows on the increase also. Lottie Ryan’s Breakfast Show achieved an increase of 10,000 listeners and Louise McSharry’s night time slot is on the up too. This news comes in the wake of Ryan Tubridy leaving his morning show on 2FM for John Murray’s 9am slot on Radio One.
An RTE spokesperson has told of the happiness and excitement in achieving such high ratings. “It’s been a phenomenal day, we are thrilled. it’s been a hard slog to get here, but we’re very happy to be here.”
Overall, the latest JNLR prove that the Irish are still radio people, showing that 84% of Irish people over the age of 15 listen to the radio every weekday.
