Well this is a revelation we were not expecting – there’s a warrant for the arrest of The Coronas frontman Danny O’Reilly in New Zealand!
The rocker was on Spin 1038’s Fully Charged With Cormac & Daniella this morning with band member Dave McPhillips and admitted he’s a wanted man in NZ.
Danny was chatting to the hosts about the group’s upcoming tour, which kicks off in England at the start of November, before moving on to Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Dubai.
But the musician admitted arranging gigs hasn’t been so easy in one country:
“When I was 21, I visited New Zealand with a group of friends….and basically I’m a wanted man there,” he laughed. “It’s my most rock ‘n’ roll thing… we’ll say it’s for a speeding fine though, so that’s not very cool. But yeah, there’s a warrant for my arrest over there!”
He added that their manager is trying to sort out a solution but it’s “proving difficult” and he’s been onto the NZ consulate.
Meanwhile, Danny and Dave seemed in great form on the radio show as they mocked themselves and the the fame that has come their way.
Danny relayed one incident after the recent Leinster Final, when a supposed fan came up and asked for a picture.
“She came up asking for a selfie and then just went ‘Nah, only joking, your band is sh*te’,” he said. “I mean, what can you say…all of her friends were just laughing!”
