Summer is here, and while Irish weather means there is no guarantee we’ll get a lot of sunshine, there will still hopefully be a few beach days on the horizon.
So its time to prepare for some sand-covered fun! And what better way than by organising our summer wardrobes. A good swimsuit is a must for the season.
Hoop embellishments
The noughties were revived in 2020, and there domination shows no signs of stopping. And nothing saying Y2K the hoop embellishments. The details were a staple of designs back then and work brilliantly with other noughties trends like halter necklines. This summer they’ve made their way to swimwear, and you can expect to see a lot of them this summer.
Shimmer
Everyone loves a bit of glitz and glitter but we normally don’t associate it with beachwear, until now that is!
Shimmer and shine has made its way into fashion and so its now invading the swimwear world. Rather than going for glitter, we’ll be seeing more shimmery fabrics. Which lasts longer and is less scratchy, so no complaints here.
Ruffles
If you want something on the cutesy side this summer, then you’re in luck as ruffles are back in!
You’ll be seeing plenty of frills on the beach this year. Be it bikinis or one pieces expect to ruffles on shoulders, waistlines, swim tops, they’ll be the ultimate detailing.
Crochet and knit
From swimsuits to coverups, its all about crochet!
Knit or woven materials has taken over recently, and when it comes to coverups, crochet and knit will take over. Be it rompers, skirts, or sarongs. It will also be popular in actual swimwear, although its not the most coinvent.
Prints
The days of colour blocking is coming to end!
Instead its all about patterns and prints. Florals look set to dominate, especially in pastel tones. But zebra print also looks set to take over, as well as tie-die, and abstract patterns.
Athletic
Don’t worry just because athletic swimwear is en vogue, doesn’t mean we can’t relax on the beach.
Instead we get all the style of sportwear while sleeping on the sand. Best of all athletic swimwear is super comfortable, and practical.
Expect to see long sleeves and zips, as well as team logos.
