Tesco recalls popular product over manufacturing error

The company is asking customers to return the product to the store.

Tesco is recalling a popular food item over an error on the label with could be harmful to customers.

The affected product is their own brand Creamy leek & bacon cooking sauce.

Due to a manufacturing error, a single batch of this sauce may contain egg and will therefore have the incorrect allergen information on the packaging.

The item will have a batch code of 7031 and comes 470g jars.

The potentially affected batch has a best before date of July 2018.

Customers should return the product to Tesco.

“Please return the affected products to store where a full refund will be given. No receipt is required,” a statement from Tesco said.

It added: “Tesco apologises to our customers for any inconvenience caused.”
