Sinead O’Connor opens up to Dr Phil about battles with mental health

Sinead O’Connor will appear on next week’s episode of popular American tv show Dr. Phil.

A teaser of the interview with the Nothing Compares 2U singer has emerged online, and she looks set to open up about her very public struggles with mental illness.

“Sinead O’Connor is gone, that person’s gone…” the 50-year-old revealed during her interview.

“I am fed up of being defined as the crazy person, the child abuse survivor.”

Dr Phil himself spoke of Sinead’s decision to seek help with her condition.

“She really has had a difficult time, and she said, ‘Look, I’m in trouble. I need help.'” the talk show host said in the  episode preview.

“And she called. She said, ‘I want to de-stigmatize mental illness; I clearly have a problem. … Too many musicians are dying. I want to use my life, be a teaching tool. I’m willing to sit down and talk.'”
