Síle Seoige celebrated her daughter’s third birthday this week.

She took a trip down memory lane of the last three years with baby Clíodhna as she reminisced on her daughter’s life.

Síle shares seven-year-old Cathal and three-year-old Clíodhna with her husband Damien.

However, she also revealed that she was making a major change with her daughter now.

She explained that she would no longer be sharing pictures of Clíodhna on social media.

“The 11th of November has always felt special but never more so than in 2021 when our daughter Clíodhna decided to make her entrance!” she wrote.

“Birthdays are emotional, and I am feeling a deep sense of gratitude right now. Clíodhna is a happy, independent, and bright little girl who has her whole life ahead of her, and now that she’s 3, we’ll no longer show her full face on my social media accounts. We did the same thing with our son Cathal.”

She went on to say: “His 3rd birthday was the last time I showed his full face on my page, and it felt right. Of course, it’s bittersweet, as we adore our kids, and we want to show them off, but we feel this is the right thing to do for our family. This is said without any judgement whatsoever, by the way. I love following accounts where kids feature.

“And if I’m honest when Cathal was born, I didn’t know how I felt about it. I didn’t show his face at all in the beginning. Then, over time I did, but as he got a bit older we felt that it was best for him to have as normal a childhood as possible and we made a clear decision to simply stop.”

The Galway Girl continued: “What I have learnt is that ‘you’re damned if you do, and damned if you don’t’ so you have to do whatever is right for you and your family. Our thinking (whether you agree with it or not) is that for the first few years…baby/toddler faces change as they grow and develop but the older they get, the more they settle into their face and become easily recognisable.

“And truthfully, the more you learn about the online world, the less you want to share anyway, so here we are again. Prepare for a lot of ‘back of the head’ shots and the odd side profile ones of both Clíodhna and Cathal from now on!”

Completely understandable. Happy birthday Clíodhna.
