Who runs the world? Well, the Irish apparently.
Films like The Banshees of Inisherin and An Cailín Ciúin were lauded earlier this year and nominated for several awards like BAFTAs and Academy Awards.
Now Ireland’s run at award shows is back as the Emmy Award nominations came out this week.
And Bad Sisters is leading the way for the Irish at the 75th Emmy Awards.
Sharon Horgan received two nominations for the brilliant series.
The actor has been nominated in the Lead Actress in a Drama Series category for her role as Eva Garvey.
She is up against some stiff competition including Sarah Snook for her role in Succession and Bella Ramsey in The Last of Us.
And that’s not Sharon’s only nomination as she is also up for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series, for her work on the episode The Prick, which she wrote alongside Dave Finkel and Brett Baer.
That’s not the only nominations Bad Sisters has received. Director Dearbhla Walsh has been nominated for Best Directing for a Drama Series.
Dearbhla is no stranger to the Emmys as she won the 2009 Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries, Movie or Dramatic Special for Part I of the serial Little Dorrit.
Declan Lowney, who previously worked on Father Ted, has been nominated for Best Directing for a Comedy Series for Ted Lasso.
G’wan the Irish!
The 75th annual Emmy Awards take place on September 18th, 2023.
