Saoirse Ronan has revealed why she is in a favour of repealing the 8th amendment.
The actress explained that she feels women should not have to travel outside of the country for the procedure.
Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine, the Irish star said: “I’m fully in support of a yes vote. A lot of the people I know are. There are so many women every day that have to travel abroad, mainly to the UK to have an abortion and what this will do is just give women the choice and full ownership over their own body.”
She used the marriage equality referendum as an example of how young people in Ireland have made a change in the country.
“The youth, especially of Ireland, is incredible and we’re so forward thinking and I think since the marriage referendum a few years ago, that has given us such a great push in the right direction and I do believe we’ll make the right choice. So go out and vote!” she said.
Saoirse recently appeared alongside a whole host of other Irish stars in a video for the Together for Yes campaign.
