It’s time for a change

Tv presenter Ruth O’Neill has left her job at E! News, and has arrived back to Ireland.

Earlier this week Ruth tweeted: “Five crazy fun years here!! Excited for the next adventure, and to hang out with my best friends again! #ByeeeLA.”

And pals have confirmed the news: “She flew back to Ireland a few weeks ago and is telling people she’s back for good. She had a great life in LA, and got on really well in E! News. She’s proven herself in the US so producers are already looking to get her for new Irish shows,” an insider told Goss.ie.

Ruth began her career on TV3 back in 2009 when she appeared on Total Xposure: a show to find Xpose’s newest presenter. She was a runner up on that, but still managed to land a brief presenting role on Xpose before setting her sights on the bright lights of LA.

Ruth moved over to America and began working for E! News, where she based herself for five years. “My dream was to work for E!.. I just kept asking people and emailing people and eventually I got an interview,” she told the Irish Independent recently.

Speaking about her career highlights, Ruth was sure to mention how fun it was to rub shoulders with Hollywood A-listers. A personal favourite of hers, was an interview with Kate Hudson. “I interviewed her and I kind of knew she’d be cool, but she really met all of my expectations. She was so present and looked me directly in the eye and gave great answers. She is in even better shape than she looks in her photographs,” she said.

Not wanting to miss a photo-op with her hero, Ruth captured the moment and was sure to post a pic of the pair online:“Chatted to Kate Hudson today for E! She is such a cool chick!”

Ruth is back on Irish soil now, but is staying tight-lipped about her next project. We’re assuming it’s a big job though, considering she left E! News for it…
