Rosanna Davison has her hands full.
As she chats to VIP Magazine she is actually on her way to pick up her daughter, Sophia from preschool. The three-year-old started in her preschool at the end of the summer.
And it was a tough time for proud mam Rosanna, she confesses: “I know it’s a cliche, but they really do grow so fast and they become independent and don’t need you anymore. I was really sad, but happy for her, sad for myself when Sophia started preschool at the end of the summer.“
Rosanna, who was speaking to us in partnership with L’OR Espresso, went on to say: “Slowly but surely, they are getting up and leaving me.“
“But at the same time some days I am delighted to get that break from them and I’m sure they are delighted to get a break from me,“ she jokes.
“I’ll be sad, the house will be quiet when they start preschool. I really treasure these early years.“
She is treasuring those early years so much that she and her husband Wes Quirke chose not to put their children into creche. Their two-year-old twin boys, Hugo and Oscar spend their whole day at home with mam!
“I want to be around them. I feel very lucky and very privileged to be able to be at home with them as much as I am. That was always my choice. I wanted them to be at home until they start preschool. The boys actually start preschool in September next year. So I won’t have any of them around for a good long stretch in the morning. I won’t know what to do with myself,“ she laughs.
But what is life really like at home with three toddlers running around? Simply put “chaos“.
“It’s chaos but it’s a lot of fun. They’re great fun. I’m not precious about the house I don’t mind a scribble on the wall or a stain,“ she explains.
“But I decided this week not to clean up after the boys just for half an hour and there was raspberry mushed into the armchair, there was grated cheese sprinkled everywhere, there were biscuits everywhere and, of course, just toys strewn all over the place. I was watching them the whole time but I just took a break for half an hour.
“So you always have to be on the ball and vigilant. It’s fine now. They’re boys and they’re very physical. I call it competitive destruction. They’re so destructive. I don’t know what it is. As a mother I’m with them all the time, I’m very attentive. They don’t need to be looking for extra attention, I think it’s a twin thing.“
Clearly, it is, as she goes on to explain that Sophie is “really clean, neat and tidy“, in fact, she “tidies up after herself“. She really is the dream.
