Mrs.Brown’s Boy star Rory Cowan has revealed his late father has no idea he was gay.
The actor has been openly gay for years and also plays the gay son of Brendan O’Carroll’s tv mammy – but his father had no idea he was so similar to his on-screen character!
The funnyman revealed that his religious father never knew about his sexuality but his mother did, even though neither herself or Rory said it out loud.
He told the Irish Mirror, “My father was totally oblivious. He was very religious so I never came out to my father. My mam knew but I never said it to my mam either.
“She just knew. She never spoke to me about girlfriends – always friends. But I never said it to her because she then would’ve had to say it to my father.
“And I was sharing an apartment with a girl at one stage and he thought I should’ve made an honest woman out of her.”
Rory also revealed that he doesn’t think the sequel to Mrs Brown’s Boys D’Movie will be released anytime soon as they’re already very busy with upcoming special episodes.
He said, “We’re doing two Christmas specials and then we’re going to be doing a UK tour so I can’t actually see it being out next year.”
