Broadcaster Ray D’Arcy is grieving the death of his mother, Mary D’Arcy, who sadly passed away this week.
Mary’s death notice on RIP.ie reads: ‘Mary D’Arcy née Bonar, Campion Crescent, Kildare Town, Co. Kildare. Peacefully, 18th July 2025, at Naas Hospital.
“Predeceased by her husband, Ray (Snr). Sadly missed by her loving children Joe, Jackie, Ray, Hughie, Anne, Paul, Marianne, Claire and Joan, sons and daughters in law, her 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, sister Angela, brother Bill, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.”
Mary will repose at McWeys Funeral Home, Abbeyview, Kildare Town, from 4 pm on Tuesday (22nd July), concluding with a rosary at 7 pm.

Her funeral will then take place at St. Brigids Parish Church in Kildare Town at 11am on Wednesday before a burial in St. Conleths cemetery.
In a previous interview with the Irish Independent, Ray spoke warmly about his deep bond with his mother and reflected on how their relationship evolved after he became a parent.
“I didn’t hug my mum until six or seven years ago,” he admitted.
“But I hug her all the time now and tell her that I love her.

“I’d never have done that years ago but as you get older, especially when you have your own children, you see the world differently.
“Also, when you have children, you want to keep the generations connected and you feel more of a pull home.
“You want your children to be part of this family and to know the mother that you knew.”
Our thoughts are with Ray and his family at this time.
