There’s never too much of a good thing.

Right now a film is in the works with Netflix which sees Cillian Murphy return as head of the crime family, Tommy Shelby.

However, The Sun is reporting that the show’s creator Steven Knight wants to bring the show back to the television and continue on their story.

A source told the publication: “The sixth series was meant to be the last, and the film was supposed to end the story.

“But show boss Steven Knight couldn’t resist coming back. He has been hinting for a while that he wanted to do more. Now the BBC has officially green-lit the project, and pre-production is under way, which will thrill fans.”

The sixth season of the show took place in 1930 with the film set to focus on World War II.

So a possible seventh series would bring them into the 1950s which would be very different from where the show started in the 1920s with Tommy returning from World War I.
