Not only is Paul Mescal an incredible actor but apparently the man can sing too!
Although the Oscar nominee has performed on Instagram a few times with his sister Nell, Paul has now had his first official music credit on the soundtrack for his latest film, Carmen.
Starring alongside Melissa Barrera and Rossy de Palma, the movie is premiering in theatres today in New York City and Los Angeles.
Carmen is described to be based on Georges Bizet’s opera based on the same name, which was first performed in Paris in 1875.
This story follows Aidan (Paul), a U.S. Marine back from two tours of Afghanistan and Carmen (Melissa Barrera) who’s a Mexican immigrant heading north after her mother’s murder.
Forced to flee her home in the Mexican desert, Carmen has no choice but to trust her independent spirit and fierce senses as she makes her way up north to Los Angeles.
The music for Carmen was composed by Nicholas Britell, whose name people may recognise from his work on the hit TV show Succession.
Nicolas also played a hand in writing “Slip Away,” one of the songs that the Irish actor sings in the film.
Speaking about joining the project back in 2020, Mescal said: “I’m honoured to have been cast alongside Melissa, an actor I greatly admire and it’s an incredible privilege to be working with Benjamin on his first feature, who has put together such an impressive creative team.”
