Olivia Rodrigo finally meets CMAT after Live Lounge cover

We knew there was mutual admiration, but now it’s official.

After Olivia Rodrigo recently surprised fans by covering CMAT’s When A Good Man Cries in the BBC Live Lounge, the pair have now “met” thanks to BBC Radio 1.

Yes, the Irish singer previously went viral for her hilarious reaction to Olivia belting out the lyric “Dunboyne Diana”, joking that the Grammy-winner sang it “better than me” and asking if Olivia fancied going for pints?

And it seems Radio 1 were more than happy to play matchmaker.

The station shared a clip to Instagram showing Olivia and CMAT chatting over the phone, and fans were absolutely living for the crossover.

“It’s so nice to meet you,” Olivia said warmly, before CMAT admitted just how shocked she was to hear Olivia sing her song on Live Lounge.

“I was listening to the song and it didn’t occur to me until that moment that the word ‘Dunboyne’ was going to come out of your mouth — and I literally lost it,” she laughed.

Olivia revealed she was relieved she pronounced it correctly, adding that she had done her research on the Meath town.

“Now you have to take me,” she exclaimed.

CMAT

CMAT was more than on board with the idea, teasing that if Olivia visits, the town might even add a mural of her beside the singer’s own famous one in the village.

“Sign me up. We’re going to pull up. We’ll do a show,” Olivia replied.

“I’ll book it now,” CMAT laughed.

It’s a full-circle moment after CMAT admitted she woke up to hear Olivia sing the word “Dunboyne” on “live English radio”, calling it a surreal moment.
