Oliver Callan has been missing from his RTÉ Radio One show in recent weeks.
The comedian has now revealed that he took time away from the station after being diagnosed with skin cancer.
He explained during his show on Monday morning that doctors told him that he had basal cell carcinoma on his face.
He went on to say that this had to be surgically removed.

The radio host was able to get the surgery, but then was unable to talk properly or laugh normally for two weeks after the procedure.
“What happened was, like thousands of us, with our Irish skin, I got one of those mild skin cancers. A basal cell carcinoma. It doesn’t spread to your body, so not that scary, but it has to be surgically removed,” he explained.
“Mine is located on the face, which is a precious place when suddenly someone comes at you with a scalpel, just between the edge of my nose and corner of my lips.
“I was told not to laugh out loud for the last two weeks or I’d end up with a nasty, nasty scar.”

Of course, he kept his spirits high as he joked about being unable to shave over the area.
“As a result, I look like an inept sidekick of a provincial detective in a 1980s southern ITV drama. That’s the look I’m going for.”
Thankfully, Oliver is recovering nicely.
