With a host of GAA stars getting married over the holidays, it seems like it’s the turn of rugby to take centre stage!
Jamie Heaslip, one of the biggest stars of the current Irish rugby team, has got engaged to his girlfriend of 5 years, Sheena O’Buachalla. The happy couple decided to tie the knot over the Christmas break, but notoriously publicity-shy Jamie kept the news secret, until now!
Jamie has been playing club rugby for Leinster for 11 years, and Sheena works there as marketing manager, having previously been employed by Spin FM and also working as a model for agency First Option. Though Jamie has been very secretive about his relationship with Sheena, he did talk about her back in 2014. “We’ve been together three to four years,” he revealed. “She’s brilliant at her job and I really admire people who are good at what they do. She gets it. She loves rugby but has never got caught up in that scene. Very honest, very on the ball.”
While neither Jamie nor his agent have confirmed the happy news, it is an open secret that the couple are now engaged. Jamie has previously explained his reasons for staying away from any publicity about his private life. “It’s a conscious decision I made,” he said. “I am fine about my rugby stuff being talked about but I like to keep my private life exactly that – private. Mainly because the people in it didn’t ask to be in the public eye. Family and friends and all that I keep separate.”
