Radio DJ Jennifer Maguire will be returning to 2fm next Tuesday with her co-hosts Bernard O’Shea and Keith Walsh after a quick maternity leave.
The 33 year old and her Italian beau, Lau Zamperelli, had their first child, Florence, in March.
Jennifer had previously said she would be returning to work ten weeks after giving birth and she has stayed true to her word, telling ‘The Sunday Independent’ before the birth: “I’m not picking stones or on my feet for hours. I’ll be off for around ten to twelve weeks depending. I’m lucky to have Lau to help out and we don’t have to use a creche. We can do it between us with the hours we do.”
The star has shown no signs of slowing down over since she first became pregnant, adding: “I suppose I worked right up to my due date because I felt great. I was lucky to have it easy in the last few months, sleeping fairly ok. And, let’s be honest, sitting on my arse doing a radio show is hardly work.”
Jennifer added: “I haven’t been tuning in because I have a really good baby and she sleeps until about nine o’clock.
“It just seems to have gone by so quickly. I feel like I have to raise my child in 10 weeks, but I’m lucky in that I’ll be racing home after the show.
“I feel sorry for mums who have to go and work a full eight-hour day – I’m not sure that I could deal with that.”
Her 2fm co-hosts have been teasing at her return on-air this week. “Is this true are you coming back next week Jennifer? If you are coming back on Tuesday will you learn how to say put?” Keith joked.
Bernard added: “She will probably team up with Miriam O’Callaghan and take over RTÉ…tie us to tress and fire stuff.”
If you want to catch her first ‘Breakfast Republic show’ since the baby, tune in next Tuesday 2nd June at 6am-8.45.
