No luck of the Irish at this year’s Emmy Awards

Three Irish faces were nominated for this year’s Emmy Awards and we were waiting with bated breath to see if there was any luck for us.

Unfortunately, there was no luck of the Irish in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

Sharon Horgan was nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category for her work in Bad Sisters.

The actor was also nominated in the category last year for her portrayal of Eva Garvey in the beloved black comedy series.

She went up against Kathy Bates (Matlock), Britt Lower (Severance), Bella Ramsey (The Last of Us) and Keri Russell (The Diplomat).

However, she ultimately lost out to Britt Lower.

Colin Farrell was hoping to continue his winning streak as he has received a nomination for his role in The Penguin.

He picked up the nod in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie category.

He has already won a Golden Globe, a SAG Award and a Critics’ Choice Award for his titular role in the comic book TV show. However, this was his first Emmy nomination.

Unfortunately he lost out to Stephen Graham for Adolescence on the night.

Colin made the night a family event as he walked the red carpet with his 15-year-old son Henry. They made a dapper pair on the carpet.

Ruth Negga Pic: Emmys

Ruth Negga received a nomination in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie category for her role in the Apple TV series Presumed Innocent.

And while she definitely won on the carpet with her beautiful Prada gown, she didn’t walk away with a trophy. It was Erin Doherty  for her role in Adolescence that ultimately won on the night.
