In the past six years, a lot has changed in Irish culture – but what has remained the exact same? Our taste in weather presenters, apparently…
A recent poll, by Dulux Weathershield and Ipsos MRBRI, was carried out to discover which familiar face that delivers the forecast to the nation each evening is our fave.
With 21% of the votes, RTE’s Evelyn Cusack came out on top, closely followed by Martin King from TV3 and causing the glamourous Jean Byrne to fall into third place.
Funnily enough, the awards show thrown by VIP‘s sister mag TVNow all the way back in 2009 found the exact same result.
At the ceremony, following a public vote (over 10,000 viewers had their say), the same three, in the exact same order, were named Ireland’s most popular weather forecasters.
Our grá for Evelyn is no surprise, seeing as she’s been informing us when to layer up and strip off since 1988 – that’s a huge 27 years of being on our screens.
The survey also found that 60% of people admit to speaking about the weather twice a day, and many remain sceptical of the weather forecast, with 38% admitting to not having faith at all in the daily forecast.
