If Niamh de Brún could describe her life in one word it would be “busy”.

She recently welcomed her second child, Séan Óg and life as a family of four is all go!

Speaking to us at the launch of the Platinum VIP Style Awards, she explains: “It’s amazing and obviously I’m super grateful, but it’s so busy! He’s a good baby; he sleeps really well, he’s very placid.

“I have two very different children. Harper is the wired one, and he is such a chill baby. A lot of people say that’s the case with a second.”

Of course, Harper is taking to her role as a big sister like a duck to water!

“She absolutely loves it,” Niamh gushes. “She’ll tell everyone who will listen that she’s a big sister. When I was introducing her to the baby in the hospital, I got her a jumper that says Big Sister and she just loves wearing it. It’s really special.”

One thing Niamh is known for on social media is discussing the realities of pregnancy and motherhood. She opened up about her difficult second pregnancy. However, she admits that she never planned to be so candid online.

“It wasn’t a thought out decision. As always, I’ll come onto my story and it was just natural,” she explains.

“How I portrayed motherhood is how it came naturally to me. Now I don’t know if I’m naturally maternal, but I do my best like all mams. It wasn’t a thought-out thing about being really candid about motherhood. It’s just the way it fell.”

She, of course, has her husband Kilkenny hurler TJ Reid to lean on. And she enthuses that he is an incredible support, especially when it comes to her physical health.

“I lost my mojo for the gym after having Harper and at the time I was being so hard on myself. But it was because I was after having a baby and then I was back to work in a really busy job. Now after having Séan Óg I don’t think I’m as hard on myself which makes me enjoy the gym more because I’ve taken the pressure off,” she says.

“And that means that I can be more consistent with it. Obviously with my husband owning two gyms and a really successful online coaching business he’s a great support. He can do my nutrient and fitness plan. I lean a lot on him.

“He’s so used to working on teams and he’s very supportive. He understands that I need to have my things as well. It’s all about teamwork and I have a great support in him.”

One thing we can be certain of is

TJ is teaching her at night time in the kitchen, which is what it is. We’ve no broken windows yet! But she’s really into it!
