It’s easy to forget that our Niall Horan got his humble beginnings on The X Factor.
Now he’s one of the biggest pop stars on the planet.
However, he almost never applied to singing competition!
He has now shared that it was a secondary school teacher who urged him to get involved.
“It was my French teacher who did it for me,” he told The Mirror.
“He filled out the forms and sent them off and encouraged me to go to the audition. If it wasn’t for that, and for all the encouragement from my school, I genuinely wouldn’t be here now standing in Wembley Stadium about to perform in front of 80,000 people.”
He went on to say that he keeps up with the teacher, in fact, the singer sees him every time he is back in Mullingar.
“I still see him. Every time I go home we go for a few pints – on me of course – and we catch up. I mean it’s been almost fifteen years now and a lot has happened in between those years so it’s nice to go home back to where it all started and ground myself.”
Although he was very thankful for his teacher he admitted that he feels like he would have ended up in the music industry at some point.
