Niall Horan’s brand new album, The Show’s release date is fast approaching so it’s only right the Mullingar lad shared what influenced his songwriting this time around – and well it’s slightly unexpected.
Of course, his girlfriend Amelia Wooley was the source of plenty of inspiration for his third album. Niall and Amelia have been dating for almost three years having met in London back in early 2020.
The Irish singer revealed that one of their shared interests seriously inspired his third record.
And it’s a bit odd, to say the least!
He revealed to NME that they both watch a lot of true crime and he got lots of inspiration from there! Seriously!
Talking about the song You Could Start A Cult which is said to be the sixth track on the new album, he said: “It’s a lot of that kind of thing, and I just wrote it down one night when we were watching something, because it’s a big thought.
“I thought it was funny initially: you could literally start a cult, and I’d follow you into the fire. It started as a joke and became this really sweet song, it is funny”.
The pair publicly confirmed their relationship in 2020 and have been together since, the song You Could Start A Cult is a tribute to the love they share where they would quite literally follow each other anywhere.

The song features beautiful lyrics like: “I would give up everything/ Who I’ll be and who I am/ You can have it all/ Baby, you could start a cult, you see/ Anywhere you go, I’ll be/ ‘Cause you were so much morе than beautiful to me”.
The Show is Niall’s third album set to be released on June 5th after a three-year hiatus following the release of his album Heartbreak Weather.

The former One Direction singer took to his Instagram to reveal to his fans that the new album is coming saying: “This album is a piece of work I’m so proud of and now it’s time to pass it over to you to go and make it your own.
“Thank you so much for being there for me all this time and I can’t wait to share the next couple of years of this new era with you. I’ve missed you all so much. It’s good to be back.”
