Aperol spritz is the drink of the summer and mulled wine is our go-to when it comes to winter. But autumn usually doesn’t have a signature drink that comes to mind when the leaves start to fall and you’re heading for a cheeky cocktail.
Which we really think needs to be remedied!
Thankfully, a certain cocktail has gone viral online and we’re thinking it could be the autumn tipple of 2022. If you’re a House Of Dragon fan or have seen the viral interview, you’ll certainly have heard of a Negroni Sbagliato. With Prosecco in it.
The drink began gaining traction after House Of The Dragon star Emma D’Arcy, was asked by their co-star Olivia Cooke, what their drink of choice is and their answer is pretty iconic.

When Emma first mentions Negroni, Olivia agrees but Emma doesn’t stop there, adding: “Sbagliato…with prosecco in it.”
“Oh, stunning!” their co-star replies, and we thought the exact same thing.
Since the interview, the tipple has had a spike in popularity with even the New York Times writing about it! And bartenders have apparently swapped their espresso martini glasses for negroni ones, to their apparent delight.
A Negroni Sbagliato is a negroni with the gin swapped out for prosecco.
And here’s a gorgeous recipe to make at home…
Ingredients
- 25ml Campari
- 25ml sweet vermouth
- Prosecco to top up
- Ice
- Orange to garnish
Method
- Pour the Campari and sweet vermouth
- Add your ice cubes.
- Gently add in the prosecco – pouring it down a bar or long spoon that’s been placed in the glass will stop the bubbles from flowing over the edge of the glass.
- Stir the contents of the glass together, top up further and garnish with the orange slice.
