Since Nadine Reid had fibroid surgery a number of weeks ago, she has been sharing updates with her followers on the recovery process.
The presenter, who recently upped sticks and moved to Donegal had an important message to share over the weekend on the difference this surgery has made for her quality of life; “8 weeks tomorrow since I now realise was life changing major surgery. I have had 2 periods since and I am stunned at how much calmer & lighter I feel.”
Continuing, she shared how previously she would have to “emotionally prepare myself for the dreaded time of the month.”
Since having fibroids, which she never even knew she had, removed, Nadine shared that she is feeling so much better both physically and mentally; “I’m calmer, more balanced, less emotionally irrational than ever before?”
“I’m honestly a new person since those huge fibroids were taken out of me. I really hope this isn’t some post surgery placebo, but I’m so happy thinking of how I have more days in the month where I feel my full true self. That to me is a game-changer.”
Nadine is using her platform to educate and inform other women on this condition as she shared; “Now I know that 80% of women get fibroids.”
“Extremely heavy periods isn’t normal. Anaemia is a sign something is off balanced. And some fibroids have no symptoms. Now, not all fibroids will need surgery, many women live with them just fine. But some you will prefer shrunk or gone.”
She added; “But here I am, mentally healthy, ready for my new future. I will admit therapy sessions and moving to a beautifully peaceful part of Ireland has played a huge part. But wow! I never knew removing fibroids would change me emotionally so much.”
This summer Nadine share her plans to have a baby through a sperm donor, which is what prompted her to have this surgery before embarking on her journey to motherhood as the fibroids could have an impact on her fertility.
Speaking with VIP Magazine earlier this year she shared; “I am hoping to keep this conversation going and I do plan to document my journey from fibroids to baby. I hope in doing so I can help others.”
“As women we can choose the lives we want. We can do what we want. I could still meet a fabulous guy. I hope that I will and hopefully he will have a really hot Donegal accent [laughs] that would be the dream scenario.”
She added; “But what if I don’t meet him until I’m 50? D’you know what I mean. So, I really think I can do this myself. Women have done harder things.”
We are wishing Nadine the best of luck with her recovery from surgery!
