Tv presenter Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh has revealed how much she struggled in the aftermath of her beloved father’s passing.
The RTE star’s dad died in 2009 following a stroke, and Bláthnaid was there to witness it happen.
She has previously admitted that she’ll never get over losing him, especially in the way she did, and that she relives his death all the time.
Now, the former The Afternoon Show host has opened up about the true extent of her struggle to accept her grief, revealing her husband Ciaran kept her going.
“I’m so in awe of his calmness, especially when awful things have happened to us over the years,” she said.
“Things like when I was sick and pretending to be well and when my dad died. I was so physically incapacitated that Ciaran had to bathe me.
“Ciaran would wash me and feed me and check in during the day and look after the kids.”
Speaking to the RTE guide, the 45-year-old said: “I was angry at (her father) for letting himself die because that’s how I saw it. But that was terrible and just me being selfish.”
Bláthnaid recently spilled the beans on being in talks with RTE about an Irish version of Strictly Come Dancing, which she says she would love to present.
