Now, more Hollywood stars are getting involved and sharing their personal stories.
Modern Family actress Sarah Hyland took to Twitter this week to explain why she would be voting yes if she was living in Ireland.
“I am a woman. I am Irish. I have a slew of health complications that COULD put me in a situation where I would be forced to make a heartbreaking decision,” she explained.
“If I was a resident of Ireland, the laws in place would kill me. I understand this all too well.”
The tweet, which received thousands of likes got a mixed reaction in the comments.
Sarah has battled with kidney dysplasia since she was a child and underwent a kidney transplant in April 2012 with her father’s kidney.
She is reportedly on anti-rejection medicines and steroids.
The referendum takes place on May 25th.
