Prime Time star Miriam O’Callaghan has hit back at rumours that her husband Steve Carson is after a top job in RTE.
The tv presenter has rubbished the reports that he has applied for the Director-General job with the national broadcaster, insisting he’s happy in his role at the BBC.
Speaking to the Herald, Miriam said: “He has not applied for the job. In fact, he’s loving his job where he is,” she said. Steve is top BBC NI executive, and works from his hometown Belfast.
The 56-year-old continued: “He has actually just moved into a new apartment in Belfast, so we were out celebrating on Wednesday night. It works out really well for us. I love Belfast.
“I’m out filming Primetime on Tuesday and Thursday and he is in Belfast and London so much. He’s actually only gone Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights.
“He loves the BBC… it’s where he started and it’s where I met him.”
The RTE star also ruled herself out for who will replace outgoing Director-General Noel Curran. Speaking back in October, she said she has no interest stepping into his shoes.
“I would never like to be the DG, and I don’t think they’d offer it to me anyway,” she commented.
