Maura Higgins is reality show royalty at this point! She went down in history as one of Love Island’s greatest bombshells, impressed with her culinary skill on Cooking With The Stars, and showed off her skating on Dancing On Ice.

But is another reality in her future?

ITV announced the return of iconic reality series Big Brother, and it seems they are hoping to get Maura on board the project as a host. A source told the The Sun, Maura was the producers top pick, after their first choice Mo Gilligan was unable to take the job due to his busy work schedule.

Saying: “Now bosses are looking at female stars who have the strength to hold the show together, while also the warmth to gently quiz contestants in the way that Davina McCall and Emma Willis did so well.”

“Maura is a homegrown ITV talent who has all that – plus of course looks great on screen.”

They also mentioned how the creator don’t want former contestants hosting, hoping to distance the show from it’s original rendition.

Explaining: “Producers are determined to distance themselves from former Big Brother names.”

Fans are certainly hoping to see the Longford in a presenting role sometime soon. After Laura Whitmore announced her exist from the next season of Love Island, fans immediately expressed how much they wanted Maura to take over.

“Maura Higgings for Love Island gets my vote”, one fan wrote.

Maura made her presenting debut last year when she hosted Irish makeup contest ‘Glow Up Ireland’. She received praise from fans and viewers for her presenting skills.

Also among the mix for the gig is most recent Love Island winner, Ekin-Su.

“EKIN-SU… IT’S YOUR TIME!” said one person.

Other fan favourites include Maya Jama and Olivia Atwood.

For now, there is no mention of who will take over the show. After Laura’s announcement, ITV shared a statement thanking her for her three years in the host chair.

“We are so grateful for everything she has brought to the programme but understand and respect her decision, and we look forward to working with her on upcoming ITV projects”
