Mary Kennedy is the picture of love with her partner, Tom.
However, the RTÉ presenter has admitted that she was taken “by surprise” by the romance after splitting from her husband at the time, Ronan Foster in 2005.
She was introduced to Tom, who she has opted to keep out of the public eye, through mutual friends. And it wasn’t long before sparks flew between them.
Although she wasn’t looking for romance, she found it with her long-term partner.
Speaking to Woman’s Way, Mary confessed: “It took me very much by surprise. It’s been uplifting, stimulating and lovely to have a companion and somebody to share things with. It releases the happy hormones and it’s gentle and life-enhancing.”
It comes after she made the move out of her family home of 20 years earlier this year.
Although she admitted that she was “nervous” about taking this next step in her life, she knows how important change really is.
“I think change is good, I think it’s really important in life all along. I’m definitely stepping outside my comfort zone, but I’m looking forward to it,” she told RSVP Magazine.
It will come as no surprise that she is a fan of adventure and she loves to grab at those opportunities with both hands.
Understandably, she sees moving house as an adventure as well as an opportunity to downsize from their family home.
Speaking to The Independent earlier this year, she explained: “I love the house and everyone loves it. But it’s very big and I no longer need all the space so I’m downsizing.”
