Maria Walsh has opened up about her relationship and the busy lives they both have.
The former Rose of Tralee has been with her other-half Shauna Keogh for about two years and admitted that they find it hard to get free time together.
Shauna works as a TV producer while Maria runs an event company, this means they their schedules rarely line-up because of unpredictable hours.
“I never get to see her. With work, when it rains, it pours. She’s blowing up,” Maria explained to Independent.ie.
Shauna previously revealed how the couple met and became close friends first: “I was based in New York. I wasn’t around for any of her Rose year. Maria and I met on the last day of the festival last year, briefly. We were running a 10k, we met for literally two minutes. She said I was rude, I say I wasn’t,” she told Independent.ie.
She adds: “Then I went back to Dublin. I was working out of TV3 for a bit and Maria was in presenting for The Seven O’Clock Show, so we were hanging out on a more regular basis then. We were just building our friendship. We were both incredibly busy and it just didn’t make sense to have anything else, but as time progressed, we realised, ‘OK, there’s feelings here, we’re going to go for it!’ So that’s how we met, it’s all good, and hopefully it continues that way.”
Thirty-year-old Maria also admitted that it’s hard to keep up with a lot of people she’s close with as much of her family live abroad.
Her brother, for example lives in America, making it difficult to see him.
“He moved to Memphis, Tennessee on a soccer scholarship when he was 18 and has been in and out of the house since,”
“He’s 34 now, and has moved back to New York. He was in LA when I was a Rose. My sister’s out in Australia with her new husband then. I do miss them – we’re a very transient family.”
