A major Irish football star is reportedly on the cusp of retiring from international football.
Ireland manager Martin O’Neill has spoken out indicating that Robbie Keane is due to announce his retirement in the near future.
Martin revealed ahead of the FAI’s AGM today that the Irish footballer won’t be available for the the World Cup qualification campaign in September as it is expected he’ll no longer be playing professionally.
The Ireland manager told The Irish Times, “Robbie will make an announcement pretty soon. I’ll leave it to him. He has some time left with LA Galaxy and it might be a case of concentrating on that so I’ll let him speak.”
Robbie’s looming retirement announcement comes shortly after renowned Irish goalkeeper Shay Given called time on his international career.
We don’t know what the Irish team is going to do without their star player – although we have a feeling Robbie Brady will make a play at filling his shoes!
