Louis Walsh has opened up about his mother’s battle with Alzheimer’s disease, admitting she doesn’t even recognise her own son.
The music mogul has always had a close relationship with his mum Maureen (84), but her illness has taken over her memory in recent years.
Speaking to Woman Magazine, the 63-year-old said: “My mum has got Alzheimer’s now. She doesn’t know me. But she’s fine, healthy and happy and doesn’t know any better.
The former X Factor mentor previously spoke about his mother’s best advice to him, which was “Your health is your wealth”.
In his latest interview, Louis also discussed his life growing up in Co. Mayo, which he described as a “strict upbringing”.
“I’m the second oldest of nine kids and grew up in a good Catholic family. We didn’t have a lot of money but didn’t know any better and were happy.”
