Lottie Ryan’s replacement announced on 2FM

Lottie Ryan

Last month it was confirmed that Lottie Ryan and David O’Reilly would be finishing up on the Drive Time slot in the coming weeks.

While this came as a surprise for listeners, Lottie confirmed that her role was only ever temporary.

“I wanted to clear up some recent headlines about my role at 2FM. When it was announced that I would be taking over Drive, it was always agreed between myself and my bosses that this would be for a five-week stint,” she explained on Instagram.

“The term ‘summer schedule’ has led to some confusion, implying a 12-week duration.

“To clarify – the plan was always for a short-term cover, and I knew this from the start. The phrase ‘summer schedule’ has led to all this confusion. I’m not going anywhere and am very much part of 2FM.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time with the incredible Drive team and it been an absolute joy working such amazing people. Thanks for all the support!”

Now her replacement has been confirmed.

Although it doesn’t look like he will be in the hot seat forever.

Beta Da Silva, who hosts his own show, The New Music Show, Monday to Thursday between 7pm and 9pm and Sundays from 8pm to 10pm, will be taking on the Drive Time slot.

2FM announced the news on social media with a snap of Beta in the studio with the caption: “@betadasilva__ taking over #2FMDrive for the next while. Weekdays 3-6pm.”

While it isn’t clear how long he will be hosting the slot, rumours have swirled that Kayleigh Trappe will be announced as the permanent host of the show.

According to The Irish Sun, TikTok lipsyncer Kayleigh Trappe will be joining RTÉ 2FM. However, she has remained tight-lipped on the manner.
