Laura Whitmore shares why “revisiting and reloving” Love Island suit was so important

Love Island is championing sustainable style for the first time this year and Laura Whitmore is leading the charge.

Her first appearance in the villa saw her rewear a beautiful red suit that made its first appearance back in 2020’s winter series.

Although the suit, which Laura admits has some heartbreaking memories attached to it, she knew she needed to breathe a new lease of life into it.

Taking to social media, she shared her story of “revisiting and reloving” the bespoke suit.

“A few months ago I approached @joshuakanebespoke and asked him would he consider cutting the trousers from the 2020 winter love island final!!” she wrote.

“Tailored hot pants anyone? Thank you Joshua for being so open to it!!”

She continued, “The suit I wore before was very special as it got me through one of the hardest live hosting jobs I’ve ever had to do and the whole time I never worried about how I looked because I felt confident in what I was wearing. So revisiting and reloving this look was important for many reasons.”

Of course, Laura last wore the suit just days after she learned that her good friend Caroline Flack had died by suicide in January 2020.

The Bray native has been open about her struggle to cope with the loss of her beloved pal.

“Thank you @emmalanestylist @mikastylefittings for working on this with us. You guys rock! The detail you undergo is so impressive.”

“And @toribmakeup who made sure my glam was equal to my incredible outfit. So lucky to be surrounded by such great people. Thank you guys! YOU’VE GOT THE LOVE.”

Showing off her signature wit, she concluded, “Currently in pj’s watching last night’s love island!”

Laura continued championing sustainability on the first Aftersun of the season, when she wore a vintage Jean Paul Gaultier top that she joked was “older than most of the islanders”.
