Tonight’s Late Late Show will involve a dance competition between Demot Bannon, Majella O’ Donnell, George Hook and Maria Walsh. The Irish personalities will strut their stuff to the Jive, Charleston, Salsa and Bollywood style dance to raise funds for various Irish charities including Barnados and Bumbleance.
Each celebrity will be paired with a professional dancer to put them through the dancing ranks, and complete against each other for the ultimate prize – being crowned the winner of the one time only Irish version of Strictly.
In anticipation of the show’s airing to the nation, architect Dermot Bannon has confessed his show-time nerves.
Dermot, who’s had no formal dance training in the past, unlike Rose of Tralee Maria Walsh and RTE’s George Hook, said: “I have never danced before.”
“Now all of a sudden I’m wearing a kurta and mascara and jumping all over the place. The only dancing I did when I was younger was the shuffle to get the shift.”
It would appear Dermot’s not alone in his nervousness to step out of his comfort zone as George and Majella are reported to be on edge about the show as well, with Majella stating that it will be strange to dance without husband Daniel, who’s a “fantastic dancer.”
Tune in the The Late Late Show on RTE One tonight at 9:35 pm to see the triumphs and falls (literally) of the country’s favourite stars.
