We’ve been holding out hope for Kin to return for a third season.
The RTÉ drama follows a crime family in the heart of Dublin and had viewers hooked for the first two seasons.
Not only was the drama gripping, there was also a stellar cast including Clare Dunne, Aidan Gillen, Charlie Cox, Ciarán Hinds, and Emmett J. Scanlan.
Unfortunately, it looks like the show that had been dubbed the “new Love/Hate” won’t be back on our screens.
A third and fourth season had been commissioned after the success of the second series. However Bron Studios, the production company and financiers of Kin, filed for bankruptcy last July which threw the future of the RTÉ show in doubt.
A source told The Irish Sun that props from the show will be “privately sold” which means that a third season is looking unlikely and if it were to go ahead it would look “radically different” from the first two.
“This is going to make the continuity on season three of Kin a nightmare. People who binge watch on box sets will find the Kinsella home looking radically different if they ever make a third season,” they told the publication.
“But that’s looking less and less likely.”
While it doesn’t look very likely to happen, RTÉ boss Kevin Bakhurst said in July “everyone involved is keen to make it happen.”
