Kieran Cuddihy won’t let Liveline commute stop him from “diving into family stuff”

Kieran Cuddihy has ruled out a move to Dublin after landing the Liveline gig.

After Joe Duffy announced his retirement earlier this year, the hunt for his replacement was on. Huge names were attached to the role.

But in the end, former Newstalk presenter Kieran was announced as the new host.

He kicked off his tenure in RTÉ earlier this November and he has been flying it!

He commutes from Kilkenny, where he lives with his wife, Natasha, and two children, Sam, 11, and Grace, nine, to the RTÉ studios every day, and he has shared that he will not be upping sticks and relocating to Dublin.

“Living outside Dublin is helpful in terms of not existing in a slightly insulated media bubble,” he told The Sun on Sunday.

“Doing Liveline, I get home at around 5.30pm and dive straight into family stuff. Like, my son will have guitar practice but I know he won’t have his homework done.

“That has to be sorted. Or my daughter has swimming lessons, so I’ll be driving her to that.”

Sharing his decision to join Radio 1, he confessed that he knew it was time for a change.

“After eight years of news and current affairs, the difference is what attracted me. I love doing new things, and Liveline is a massive show and a huge opportunity for me.”

He continued: “I’ve done nine shows now and I’m still getting a feel for it. There’s always a danger you’re going to feel buyer’s remorse about any big decision you make.”

He added: “On Liveline, you’re talking with people and creating an atmosphere of conversation where you draw out a story. There’s a skill you learn as you go along.”
