Katie Taylor has been a beacon of Irish sports for many years now.
However, it looks like she plans to hang up her gloves this year.
The boxer confirmed her retirement, with the hopes that her final match will take place in Croke Park.
The Dublin woman has often spoken about her goal to fight in the iconic venue in our capital.

Speaking to RTÉ Sport, she said: “We’re still trying to figure the details out but I do having one more fight this year. It’s kind of like my retirement fight. It has been an amazing journey, the whole lot of it, over these last 20 years.
It has been an incredible, remarkable career and I always wanted to end it here in Ireland. That’s what we’re hoping and preparing for, to have one last fight. It is going to be an amazing celebration.”
She said that she wants to end her career in her native Dublin and “hoping” that the fight will take place in Croke Park.
“Fighting my last fight in our most iconic arena, how special would that be?” she told the publication.

She confessed she’s not sure if it will go ahead but she’s putting it out into the universe and we can’t blame her.
However, she confirmed that her last fight will take place in Dublin despite the venue not being confirmed. She has previously taken to the ring in the 3Arena and the Aviva Stadium.
The fight is due to take place in either July or August, with Katie sharing the final details would be confirmed in the coming weeks.
