Kathryn Thomas opened up about a terrifying moment that happened to her when she was filming for her holiday show, No Frontiers.
She filmed the travel show for 10 years from the age of 20.
However, during one of her trips, she was approached by a man with a machete.
The team were filming in Papa New Guinea when they entered an area they were not meant to be.
Appearing on The Six O’Clock Show, she recounted the story.
“I was producing the show at the time. We wanted to go somewhere that people hadn’t travelled, that had been unexplored, undiscovered and there are 800 different tribes in Papua New Guinea.
“And there are only two roads around the main island so everywhere you have to get is either by a small plane so you don’t navigate there easily. So we had gone there for a couple of days up the river with the whole team of people to find this deserted gold mine.”
However, while they were there they were approached by a man with a machete and a spear who had eaten hallucinogenic nuts.
“He comes out of the trees essentially and all of the crew had crossed a river to take a shot of me from the other side and I am on my own and I just hear this scream and I look around and there’s this guy with a spear and a machete.
“He’s literally coming at me and in that moment I just went ‘This is where I am going to die.’.”
She went on to say that she was just frozen in fear in that moment.
“And I still question myself about that reaction I had but I was literally frozen with fear… eventually we just had to give him all our money and watches and all our water.”
