The world went quiet yesterday afternoon as we waited with bated breath to find out who was Oscar nominated.
Obviously we were overjoyed to find out that Cillian Murphy had nabbed his first Oscar nomination.
However, there were some shocking snubs.
Most notably Greta Gerwig for Best Director and Margot Robbie for Best Leading Actress.
Now Joanne McNally has waded into the discourse!
Ryan Gosling was nominated for Best Supporting Actor and Joanne reshared his statement with her own words.
She wrote: “Genuinely mind-boggling. To be fair to Ryan, I’d say he’s mortified cos he’s gonna get dogs abuse for getting nominated for an Oscar for a supporting role in a film made by women about feminism where no one else was nominated, I actually don’t know where to look.”
America Ferrera who played Gloria in the film also received a nomination in the Best Supporting Actress category.
Ryan’s powerful statement read: “I am extremely honoured to be nominated by my colleagues alongside such remarkable artists in a year of so many great films. And I never thought I’d be saying this, but I’m also incredibly honoured and proud that it’s for portraying a plastic doll named Ken.
“But there is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making, globally-celebrated film.
“No recognition would be possible for anyone on the film without their talent, grit and genius. To say that I’m disappointed that they are not nominated in their respective categories would be an understatement.”
He went on to say: “Against all odds with nothing but a couple of soulless, scantily clad, and thankfully crotchless dolls, they made us laugh, they broke our hearts, they pushed the culture and they made history. Their work should be recognized along with the other very deserving nominees.
“Having said that, I am so happy for America Ferrera and the other incredible artists who contributed their talents to making this such a groundbreaking film.”
Other notable snubs include director Celine Song for Past Lives as well as Greta Lee in the Best Actress category. Past Lives is nominated in the Best Film category.
Another film which was completely overlooked is May December, despite the fact Charles Melton had so much buzz around him for Best Supporting Actor. Should he have been there instead of Ryan Gosling?
Julianne Moore who also appeared in May December also failed to be nominated.
Social media were also fuming that Andrew Scott failed to be nominated for All of Us Strangers as well as Zac Efron for The Iron Claw and the snub of the entirety of the movie Priscilla.

However, the good news is that Lily Gladstone has become the first Native American actress who was nominated for Best Actress at the Oscars. And she’s the favourite to make double history by becoming the first Native American actress to win an Oscar!
Justine Triet becomes the eighth woman ever nominated for Best Director for Anatomy of a Fall. And Greta Gerwig became the first woman to direct three films that have been nominated for Best Film, which sees Barbie, Lady Bird and Little Women all nominated.
