A month after her daughter’s birth, RTE star Jennifer Maguire has opened up about “falling totally in love” with her new bundle of joy.
The Republic of Telly host welcomed her first child Florence with husband Lau Zamparelli last month and has described the experience as “magical”.
“We have been getting to know each other and it’s nice to be able to spend time with her,” she told the Irish Daily Mirror.
“I just keep staring at her all day like a weirdo. It’s more like, ‘I have to keep this child alive’, it’s my responsibility so I’m checking her breathing like every five seconds.”
The 33-year-old, who is currently on our screens with Darren Kennedy for The Unemployables, has taken 10 weeks maternity leave from TV presenting and co-hosting on 2FM’s Breakfast Republic to prioritise the new duties that come along with being a mum.
Jennifer and her half-Italian hubby have decided not to avail of help with their daughter and have instead agreed to divide the responsibilities between one another.
“I’m lucky to have Lau to help out and we don’t have to use a creche. We can do it between us with the hours we do,” she said.
“The best advice I have had is don’t listen to any advice. I think everyone is so different. I just did what I felt would work for me. Staying positive and remembering we are built to do this. I blocked out the horror stories and only focused on the good stuff.”
The presenter and her actor beau wed in a glamourous ceremony in Castle Leslie, Co. Monaghan in July last year.
